چکیده

Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common disorder characterized by recurrent upper airway collapse during sleep, leading to neurological and cardiovascular adverse effects. Objective: The present study aimed explore seasonal compliance with Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy among OSA patients in Greece. Methods: Data from 954 using CPAP devices were collected summer winter months. Factors evaluated included the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI), mask type, leaks, hours of device usage. Results: majority male (78.2%) aged 60 years or above (58.5%). Most had been for over 2 (82.8%), auto nasal pillow masks being most common. Compliance was observed 57.7% patients, while 22.1% non-compliant. A significant number (8.2% 12%) compliant only winter, respectively. influenced duration use, BMI up 25, use nasal/pillow masks. Higher associated lower severity both low severe severity. Logistic regression analysis confirmed these findings. Conclusion: findings suggest that utilizing data can provide actionable insights on patients. Summer lower, recommended improved compliance.

CPAP adherence of patients with obstructive sleep apnea.

BACKGROUND Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and bi-level positive airway pressure (BPAP) are the gold standard treatments for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), but CPAP/BPAP is not well tolerated and requires long-term follow-up. OBJECTIVE We prospectively assessed subjective and objective adherence and factors that affect adherence in OSAS patients. METHODS Subjects using ...

CPAP treats muscle cramps in patients with obstructive sleep apnea.

We describe a case series of 4 patients with varying degrees of obstructive sleep apnea who incidentally had a history of nocturnal leg cramps. None of the patients had periodic limb movements during the study and denied symptoms consistent with restless legs syndrome. In 3 of the 4 patients, nocturnal leg cramps resolved with CPAP treatment for OSA, while the fourth patient noted near-resoluti...

CPAP versus oxygen in obstructive sleep apnea.

BACKGROUND Obstructive sleep apnea is associated with hypertension, inflammation, and increased cardiovascular risk. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) reduces blood pressure, but adherence is often suboptimal, and the benefit beyond management of conventional risk factors is uncertain. Since intermittent hypoxemia may underlie cardiovascular sequelae of sleep apnea, we evaluated the ef...
